Per aver scoperto nel 1415 una congiura a danno del duca Filippo Maria, si ebbe in premio dallo stesso duca molti beni e la concessione alla di lui famiglia del cognome e dell'arma della famiglia. Lasciò egli allora il cognome Cicardi, ed i suoi discendenti portarono sempre quello di V. Da lui nacquero Bartolomeo che nel 1429 fu eletto Vescovo di Novara da Martino V; Alessandro capitano d'uomini d'armi al servizio dei duchi di Milano; Andrea castellano di Carimate nel 1430, ascritto poi nel 1450 fra i decurioni di Novara; e Giorgio, il quale dal Duca Filippo-Maria nel 1415 ebbe molti beni alla Zelada con un porto sul Ticino, detto di Parasacco, poi comprò molti beni a Riozzo, ed in seguito, eletto famigliare ducale ...
