Nobility crown CilliUna nobile famiglia che esistette in Toscana, e poi si diramò in parecchi luoghi. Un'altra ne esistette a Gubbio. Si crede che l'attuale famiglia Cilli di Fano possa essere una diramazione dell'anzidetta di Toscana, ma ancora non se ne è potuto stabilire l'attacco. La famiglia di Fano, proviene da Fossombrone dove era tra le principali fin dal sec. XV, con il titolo di nobile e patrizio, e dove i suoi membri ricoprirono le prime cariche civiche. Un Bernardino Cilli fu gentiluomo dell'ambasciatore veneto, Giustiniani. Livio Cilli, essendosi trasferito a Fano, il 6 settembre 1783 fu ammesso di consiglio e dichiarato nobile fanese con tutta la sua discendenza. Egli nel 1819 trasportò poi definitivamente tutta la sua famiglia da Fossombrone a Fano. Nel 1814 agosto 1, per suoi meriti speciali, fu da papa Pio VII, creato conte palatino, personalmente.
