Antichissima famiglia castellana e parlamentare del Friuli, derivata da un Detalmo, signore di Cergneu, che in un atto del 25 novembre 1303, rogato da un notaio anonimo di Cividale (Archivio notarile di Udine) è detto figlio del qm. D. Corrado di Savorgnano, il quale a sua volta è ritenuto figlio di Rodolfo, capostipite dell'illustre casato dei Savorgnan patrizi veneziani. Il figlio di Detalmo, Pietro, faceva acquisto nel 1357 del castello di Brazzà Superiori dagli antichi signori del luogo, e dal nome di questo venne coi successori chiamato di B. o Brazzacco. Giovanni, suo fratello (1326-1356), continuò invece la linea dei Cergneu, che si estinse nel 1766. A questa appartenne il nobile Giov.
