Ancient and noble family from Tuscany, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. This noble House is originally from the city of Pisa, where it has been present since the 12th century. The first family member we know of is a Guiscardo, among the thousand who swore peace with the Genoese in 1188. The venerable Villana also belonged to the family, of which there is memory in the Life of Saint Gherardesca of the Camaldolese Order. A Giovanni, more commonly known as Vanni, after having been Elder between the years 1295 and 1304, was elected chatelain of Castel di Castro in Sardinia but, back in Pisa, he was Elder once again, in 1311.
