L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel nomen latino "Collinus", appartenuto, probabilmente, ad un, oggi ignoto, capostipite. Con Luigi, di Bernardo, segretario della Soprintendenza alla Conservazione del Catasto, tal casato ottenne, con rescritto sovrano del 26 marzo 1824, la reintegrazione alla cittadinanza fiorentina, come discendente da Jacopo, di Biagio del Tanaglia da Pratelli. Ed essendo riuscito a provare che il detto Jacopo del Tanaglia era la stessa persona di Jacopo, di Biagio, di Jacopo setaiolo, riseduto del Magistrato dei priori nel 1475, fu, con rescritto granducale del 25 aprile 1828, reintegrato altresì alla nobiltà fiorentina.
