Galvano Colpe, prode cavaliere in Alemagna, chiamato De La Fux, per l'antichissimo stemma gentilizio della sua stirpe, viveva circa l'anno 930 nella Francovia, provincia orientale di Germania, ove godeva il dominio della contea di Pempa, allora città ragguardevole, e poscia per le vicende dei secoli ridotta in un minor recinto di mura. Bartolomeo, terzogenito del ricordato Galvano, fu capitano di cavalleria di Ottone imperatore, lasciò nei suoi due fratelli il ceppo antico in Pempa e trasportò il suo ramo in Padova nell'anno 982 e poscia il Trevigi, ed infine poco dopo l'anno 1000 fissò stabile dimora in Vicenza, innalzando il suo cognome in quello di Colpe. Galvano II fu mandato dai Vicentini ambasciatore a Enrico V per assistere la di lui incoronazione imperiale seguita in Genova l'anno 1111. Galvano VI fu ambasciatore di Carlo IV nell'anno 1346.
