Nobility crown CrapanzanoAntichissima famiglia siciliana, le cui origini si riallacciano ad una nobile prosapia catalana, migrata in Sicilia con un Palascino Crapanzano, cavaliere sotto re Manfredi (1250-1266). Essa godette nobiltà in Catania, Salemi e Trapani, ove possedette la salina di Reda e il feudo Fontanacoperta, e vanta d'esser tra le fondatrici della nobile compagnia dei Bianchi di detta città. Sotto re Carlo d'Angiò (1266-1285), si ricordano Antonio Crapanzano, che divenne governatore di Terranova, e Guglielmo, che fu castellano di Marsala. D'altronde, tal famiglia, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, sempre è riuscita a produrre una serie di uomini che resero illustre il suo nome, nei pubblici impieghi, nelle professioni liberali ed ecclesiastiche e nel servizio militare.
