Nobility crown CurcoEn el Valle de Oyarzun (Guipùzcoa). Son sus armas: De azur, con una banda de oro engolada en cabezas de dragones del mismo metal, lampasados de gules. Bordura de oro con ocho panelas de gules. Por referencias de historiadores de la época y otras averiguadas por Araldis en los archivos registrales de ciudades y otros privados, podríamos afirmar, pero no asegurar, que este escudo u otro muy similar a él, apareció inicialmente desde el siglo XI al XIV, particularmente en la repoblación de Pamplona, fines del siglo XII, siendo una de las familias seleccionadas para residir en la ciudad. Las referencias de esta familia parecen precisarse con más frecuencia desde el siglo XV al XIX en especial los hechos de el descubrimiento de las islas Marquesas (Océano Pacífico), siendo uno de los oficiales al servicio de Don Alvaro de Mendaña, Adelantado del mar Océano. Todo ello parece coincidir con la memoria familiar de algunos de los miembros de la rama de la familia Curco. El estudio del escudo heráldico familiar nos "habla" de quienes formaron el origen de la familia C., pues esa era su función, la de manifestar a los demás sus elementos diferenciales, pues la inclusión del elemento banda quiere decir que pertenecieron a órdenes militares de caballería.
