Nobility crown DavidHaute bourgeoisie consulaire du Puy, enrichie par le négoce. Bertrand David était vicaire de la collégiale de St-Georges en 1304; Jehan, consul du Puy en 1364. Jacques, bourgeois du Puy, au dire du chroniqueur Médicis, avait fait édifier dans l'église des Jacobins, la chapelle de St-Roch et Ste-Madeleine dans laquelle fut enterré peu après, en 1380, Messire Bertrand du Guesclin, comte de Longueville. Son petit-fils, noble Jacques, fils de feu noble Guigon David, cité dans le compoix de 1408, vivait en 1425. Postérieurement on trouve: Guigon, 2e du nom, premier consul du Puy en 1478; Maistre Jacques, seigneur de Chanceaux et du Fieu (1523), docteur ès droits, commis des Etats du Gévaudan, juge royal du Velay (1525-1544), censitaire de St-Mayol, qui harangua le roi François 1er lors de son entrée au Puy, le 18 juillet 1533. Il était fils d'autre Jacques receveur de la vicomté de Polignac, destitué pour malversations, ...
