Nobilissimo casato astigiano, detto Re, Rex o De Regibus, il quale appartiene al gruppo di famiglie nobili astigiane, raggruppate nelle Casane astigiane, che in seguito al commercio ed all'attività feneratizia in tutta l'Europa occidentale, si arricchirono notevolmente, contribuendo di conseguenza all'espansione del Comune astigiano nel periodo medievale. Di fazione ghibellina, i De Regibus possedevano un palazzo casaforte, in Asti, sin dal XIII secolo, sito davanti alla Chiesa di Sant'Anastasio, in Corso Alfieri. Una delle tre torri del palazzo, ancor oggi, può essere ammirata, insieme ad i caratteristici stemmi a scacchiera del casato. Il primo personaggio della famiglia ad apparire con una carica pubblica fu Eustachio de Regibus, funzionario incaricato di ricevere il giuramenti al comune nel 1135.
