Nobility crown De Saint PaulNoblesse chevaleresque, sortie de St-Paul-en-Jarez, que l'on trouve aussi mentionné sous le nom de Saint Pol. Hugues, damoiseau, consent une vente, l'an 1247, au comte de Forez. Les preuves de cette maison remontent à Sébastien seigneur de la Guillanche et de Vassalieu (1508), marié à Catherine de Rochefort. Il testa le 5 juin 1518, laissant: Antoine, dit de Damas, marié le 20 juin 1535 à Claude de Sainte-Colombe de Chazelet. Louis, seigneur de Vaux, mourut à l'époque des guerres de Religion (16 octobre 1593), en défendant la cause du Roi. Marcellin, seigneur de la Garde, marié à Françoise de Lombard, demeurant au Meynial paroisse de St-Jean-de-Nay, Jean Saint-Paul seigneur de Villedieu près Roche-en-Régnier, Gaspard seigneur de Chazelet et François seigneur de Brugerette, furent tous maintenus dans leur noblesse en Auvergne les 12 août et 14 décembre 1667 et en Languedoc le 18 juillet 1669. La branche des seigneurs de la Guillanche et de Vassalieu s'est fondue dans les d'Apchon au XVIIème siècle.
