Questa famiglia, di origine bolognese, si distinse specialmente nelle belle arti. Essa conta i celebre Marcello, maestro di cappella a Carpi nella prima età del secolo diciasettesimo; egli è noto per una raccolta di composizioni intitolata: Salmi, sinfonie e litanie a tre, quattro e cinque voci. Quasi contemporaneamente al musicista Marcello, nasceva nel 1699 a Bologna Bernardo; apprese i primi elementi della pittura dal Cavazzoni Angelo disegnatore di architettura ed acquafortista; poscia assistito da Ferraioli Nunzio, celebre paesista vissuto quasi sempre a Bologna, riuscì un abile frescante. A poco a poco il Bernardo si creò una maniera propria; divenne anche acquarellista di paesaggi, con lieto successo, perchè i suoi lavori erano ricercati in ogni paese; ed intagliò all'acquaforte, come si vede nel libro stampato a Bologna nel 1760.
