Silvio Ferrari per lui e suoi discendenti maschi con ordine di primogenitura il titolo e la dignità di baroni. La famiglia oriunda di Oleggio, poi in Gozzano, assunse il casato Ardicini per disposizione testamentaria di Giulio Ardicini, del 17 novembre 1639. Il ramo che la rappresenta attualmente si stacca dal ceppo principale della famiglia con Luigi (n. a Gozzano il 22 ottobre 1768, dec. Gozzano, 5 novembre 1844) che sposava a Novara (26 gennaio 1801) Maria Teresa Caterina di Achille Nibbia (n. Novara il 22 genn. 1782, dec. Gozzano il 23 agosto 1836). Nacque dal matrimonio, fra gli altri figli, Giovanni (n. a Gozzano il 31 luglio 1820, dec. a Novara il 4 marzo 1903) che fu riconosciuto nel titolo e nello stemma con Decreto Ministeriale 10 giugno 1894.
