La famiglia Ponsiglione proviene da Testona. Giovanni Antonio, il quale nacque ivi nel secolo XV, era patrizio di Moncalieri, e appartenne al cellegio dei giureconsulti di Torino. Nel 1490 fu professore nello studio generale di Torino, quindi senatore nel Senato di Piemonte, ed avvocato ducale. Morí nel 1496. Suo figlio fu Michele, il quale nacque a metá del secolo XV, e morí quasi centenario, probabilmente nel 1545, anno in cui fece testamento. Fissó costui la sua residenza a Cherasco, dove fu sindaco, con qualche interruzione, dal 1484 al 1528. Ebbe pure le cariche di provicario nel 1532 e nel 1533, e di vice podestá nel 1542. Sposó Caterina Scarampi, dei signori di Montaldo-Roero, feudo che passó alla famiglia Ponsiglione.
