Chi ha voluto farli discenere da Fiesole, ha dovuto confonderli con i Giannoti da Setignano, i quali si chiamarono con l'omonimo cognome, ed ebbero nei secoli XVI e XVII ndiversi artisti assai noti. Nè fortuna migliore toccò a quegli storici che li supposero derivare dalla famiglia di Bonifacio VII riparatasi in Toscana quando, costretta all'ira popolare, dovè fuggire da Roma; perchè nessun documento convalida questa ipotesi. Quello che invece può essere accettato come certo e che essi abbiano assunto il cognome da Ferruccio, sepolto nel 1214 nella Chiesa di S. Maria del Carmine di Firenze; e per quanto nulla si sappia di lui, deve supporsi che non dovesse essere di bassa condizione, se suo figlio Lottieri fu degli Anziani nel 1253, cioè in un tempo nel quale il potere era ancora rservato ai soli maggiorenti. Bandato doppiomerlato d'oro e d'azzurro.
Ferrucci di Firenze, Santo Spirito e Drago. Famiglia originaria forse di Piombino, trasferita a Firenze nell'alto medioevo e probabilmente estinta nel 1608. Nel 1836 Luigi e Michele Ferrucci, appartenenti a una famiglia di Lugo di Romagna, vennero ascritta alla nobiltà fiorentina, pur non essendo di certa discendenza dai cittadini fiorentini. Nel fascicolo si trovano due varianti, che però si ritengono esecuzioni errate: una è d'azzurro, a tre bande diminuite doppiomerlate d'oro; l'altra è d'argento, a due pali doppiomerlati d'azzurro.
