Nobility crown FeytoutAncienne chevalerie qui compte parmi ses membres les seigneurs de Vergezac, du Thiolent (alias Thioland ou Thiolan), de Chazaulx (alias la Tour, près Bouzols), coseigneurs de Coubon, seigneurs de Fontanes, du Monteil, de Grande, etc. Sa filiation remonte à André qui fut reçu chevalier de l'ordre du Temple au Puy en 1210; Pierre qualifié chevalier, témoin avec Hugues de la Tour, d'un échange entre Héracle de Montlaur et les Templiers du Velay (juin 1236). Robert seigneur de Vergezac, frère de noble Armand, possédait des rentes nobles au Thiolent (1246). Pierre, religieux bénédictin, est dit prieur de St-Rémy (1261); noble Robert clerc de l'église du Puy (1263). Bermond, chevalier, rend hommage d'un fief sis à Coubon (1296); André en 1318; Pierre dit de Vergezac, en 1362-1383. Pons, chanoine de St-Vosy, était frère de Niel et de Guillaume Fayet (1337). Niel Fayet alias de Fay, damoiseau de la paroisse de Bains, possédait des rentes nobles à St-Remy (1327). Au XIIIème siècle, cette maison se divisa en trois branches: I° celle des seigneurs de Vergezac qui retint ce nom et perdit celui de Fayet; 2° celle des seigneurs du Thiolent, connus uniquement sous ce nom; 3° celle des seigneurs de Fayet près Bains, à laquelle appartenaient Jean et Claude, convoqués au ban de la noblesse d'Auvergne en 1543. ...
