Nobility crown FiolEn Cataluña existe un lugar conocido con tal nombre, cuya fundación atribuyen antiguos cronistas a los progenitores del ilustre linaje de los Fiol, también escrito Fillol. En Mallorca, adoptaron el apellido Fiol y establecieron dos casas solariegas en la villa de Santa María; una conocida por el nombre de "Son Vera" y otra denominada "Son Cosme". Entre sus miembros se destacó el venerable padre Lorenzo Fiol, religioso mercedario, Comendador de Vic y Definidor General de su Orden, quien entregó su alma al Señor en el año de gracia de 1437. De este noble linaje fueron jurados de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca los siguientes esclarecidos caballeros: Gabriel Fiol en el año 1489; otro Gabriel Fiol en 1647; Jaime Fiol y Miguel Fiol en 1678; otro Miguel Fiol en 1679; Nadal Fiol y Salvador Fiol en 1698. Asimismo, desempeñaron con honor y prudencia la dignidad política de conselleres los siguientes señores: Pedro Fiol, oriundo de Sansellas, en 1513; Sebastián Fiol en 1527; Juan y Bartolomé Fiol en 1533; Antonio Fiol en 1534; Esteban Fiol en 1549; Pedro Fiol en 1553 ...
