Fra le antiche famiglie del distrutto regno di Serbia, se ne trovava una illustre denominata Pavlicsevits o Pavlovits. Pare abitasse a Nevesigne in Erzegovina, che prima del 1448 apparteneva alla Serbia. In seguito alle invasioni dei turchi, e della conseguente rovina di quella nazione, è da ritenere che un ramo abbia cercato rifugio più sicuro a Cattaro. E difatti in questa città fiorì per secoli una famiglia Paulichievich, evidentemente derivata da quella serba dei Pavlicsevts il cui stemma, d'oro ad un capriolo di verde, caricato da due rose di rosso, accompagnato in capo da un crescente figurato di rosso ed in punta da una testa di donna al naturale, è quasi simile all'altro che si vede scolpito sulla tomba dei Paulichievich nella chiesa di Santa Chiara a Cattaro. Non si sa se per l'uso frequente del nome Lazzaro o per altre cause, nei documenti la famiglia viene indifferentemente appellata ora ...
