Aquil.) bezeichnete der Flüchtling Ulrico Marquis der Toskana von Cividale an den Patriarchen von Aquileja Ulrico (1162–1182) die Herrschaft über fünf Dörfer im Friaul, zu denen ua gehören Zeugen Warnero oder Guarnero di Faedis und sein Sohn Odorico. In einem anderen Dokument von 1186 (de Rubeis 1. c.) wird Warnero selbst nicht mehr von Faedis, sondern von Cucanea gesagt; und dies ist die erste Erinnerung an diesen Namen, die die Familie annahm, weil sie zwischen 1166 und 1186 den Cucagna-Turm über dem Onomino-Hügel in der Nähe von Faedis errichtet und sich dort endgültig niedergelassen hatte. Aber die Familientradition behauptet, dass diese Linie von einem Odorico qu abstammt.
