Giovanni, di Giambattista, mercante, ottenne col nipote Antonio, concessione dell'arma con patenti del 2 maggio 1660, perchè "i loro antenati erano sempre onoratamente vissuti", che venne consegnata dal figlio suo Ippolito Francesco il 15 luglio 1687. Francesco Secondo (nato Asti il 21 agosto 1798), di Giuseppe, colonnello di anteria, fu creato conte di motu proprio il 9 febbraio 1879. Per il suo matrimonio (1 maggio 1836) colla nobile Antonia Maria Saveria Colombo di Cuccaro, i figli suoi Pietro (nato Asti 24 settembre 1843), maggior generale, e Giuseppe Antonio (nato Asti, 11 aprile 1850) furono autorizzati di aggiungere al proprio casata materno Colombo. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere ...
