Antica ed assai nobile famiglia della Germania, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diversi paesi europei. Originaria di Schöllkrippen, nel land della Baviera, di essa si hanno notizie araldicamente rilevanti sin dal quindicesimo secolo. Uno dei primi personaggi di cui si ha novella è un Heinz Geipel o Geuppelt, quest'ultima antica forma cognominale, che nel 1499 era maestro forestale in Rottenbuch. Sempre nel corso del XV secolo, questa casata ereditò il feudo dei von Deckenbach nella contea di Isenburg, oggi comune ddella Renania-Palatinato. La notorietà ed il prestigio dei Geipel aumentarono nel corso XVI secolo. Dietrich Geipel trovasi infatti menzionato nello stemmario di Bayarth; Hans Konrad Geipel figura tra i vassalli di Isenburg.
