Nobility crown GillardDans l'Armorial manuscrit dressé vers l'époque de la grande recherche de la noblesse (1666), ayant pour titre: "Catalogue des Nobles", il est dit que François Gillet, habitant de la ville de Bergerac, porte pour armes: d'azur, à une colombe d'argent, au-dessus d'un serpent de même, au chef d'or chargé de trois étoiles de gueules. Pour timbre: le casque à demi tourné. — En marge se voit cette note: " Il tire sa noblesse de l'office de secrétaire du roi, dont était revêtu son père." Malgré le peu d'analogie de ces armes, ou est porté à croire que ce dernier est un des représentants des Gillet de la Caze, famille de Bergerac, qui comptait, en 1714, comme premier président au Parlement de Bordeaux, Joseph, marquis de la Caze. La mère de ce dernier, Anne de Joly et François de Gillet, rendirent hommage au roi, en 1690, pour biens nobles qu'ils possédaient dans les paroisses de la Madeleine (sénéchaussée de Bergerac) et de Cussac (sénéchaussée de Sarlat).
