Il ramo di Waldenburg, a cui spettano i titoli di Principe del Sacro Romano Impero e di Principe di Waldenburg, deriva da Carlo Alberto III (nato nel 1776 e morto nel 1843) che cedette al fratello minore la Signoria di Schillingsfurst nel 1807. I secondogeniti e le femmine portarono il titolo di Principe con la qualifica di Altezza Serenissima. Il principe Federicodi Hohenlohe, figlio di Egone e della principessa Teresa, nata Contessa di Thurn Valsassina, nato in Venezia nel 1850, aveva sposato Zina Cattadori, la quale avendo assunta la cittadinanza italiana, che era la sua originaria, potè ottenere il riconoscimento del titolo di Principessa.
