Ancient and noble family from Isernia, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. Ottaviano, living in 1478, was, for its value and faithfulness, very dear to King Ferdinand I. Similarly Francesco, his eldest son, to other Aragonese kings. Nicola, son of Francesco, was Lord of the Palata and was succeeded by Girolamo, his son, from which came another Ottaviano or Ottavio. He was very valiant in arms and, in the last years of Charles V, he exercised honourable assignments of the militia. The viceroy of Naples made him Colonel of Infantry and, with that status, in 1556 he led the campaign of Rome. In the church of San Francesco it is possible to admire the Crucifix that Ottavio Iannotta carried away with the weapons to a group of German soldiers who had stolen it from an Anagni church.
