Famiglia oriunda di Dogliani. Il capitano Michele Andrea Orta ottenne il 23 luglio 1622 concessioni di arma. Suo figlio l'avvocato Pietro Francesco che fu vice conservatore a Dogliani (1651), acquistò il 21 agosto 1682 dai vassalli Giambattista e Gianfrancesco Doglio porzione di Torre d'Uzzone. Consegnò costui l'arma concessa al padre suo nel 1687. Da lui nacque Michele, il quale consegnò il feudo nel 1734, del quale venne investito con titolo signorile il 10 aprile 1772 il figlio suo Francesco Benedetto. Nacque da costui Giovanni Francesco (n. Dogliani, 25 nov. 1780), il quale dalle seconde nozze con Vincenza del conte Filippo Marenco di Castellamonte ebbe Benedetto e Filippo. Benedetto (n. Dogliani, 25 febbraio 1826) sposò Clementina del conte Antonio Piola Caselli e da queste nozze nacquero Giuseppe, Carlo e Carolina. Filippo (n.
