Nobility crown LacapeImportante famille vellave, connue dès 1290 et inscrite dans les fastes consulaires du Puy dès 1439, avec Pierre qui fut réélu deuxième consul de cette ville en 1449. On trouve son nom diversement écrit Lac et Dulac. Filiation suivie depuis: Louis, seigneur de Gratuze et de Remigère, vivant vers 1480, père de François du Lac, deuxième consul du Puy en 1531. Son fils Jacques, seigneur de Gratuze, acheta le 7 avril 1580 à Jean de Poinsac, seigneur d'Archinaud, la place de Fugères. Second consul en 1588 et notable bourgeois de la ville du Puy, alors assiégée par les royalistes, Jacques fut nommé par le parti de la Ligue pour négocier la paix, mais convaincu d'avoir trempé dans un complot et ouvert les portes aux royalistes, il fut arrêté par les ligueurs et condamné à être pendu. Deux ans plus tard, sa mémoire fut réhabilitée par des lettres de noblesse et ses descendants convoqués au ban et à l'arrière-ban du Velay en 1689, obtinrent en août 1700 et le 13 novembre 1739, des lettres patentes confirmant les prèmieres et établissant leur filiation depuis: François, seigneur de la Remigère (1531). Des chanoines de N.-D. du Puy; un abbé de Doue: Jean "arquebusadé" près de son monastère, le 2 mai 1609; un capitaine général du Puy (1620); un premier consul de cette ville (1669); un conseiller en la sénéchaussée et siège présidial de la même ville (1710); un conseiller à la cour des Comptes, officier de la Légion d'honneur mort en 1890; des envoyés aux Etats du Velay; un officier des grades du corps du roi, chevalier de St-Louis (1766); un capitaine, au régiment de Condé mort en 1830; et de nos jours, un jésuite éminent, le R. P. du Lac, décédé en 1909, connu surtout comme conférencier et fondateur de la célèbre école préparatoire Ste-Geneviève de la Rue des Postes. Cette famille, encore représentée, a en outre été convoquée, en 1789, à l'assemblée de la noblesse de la sénéchaussée du Puy. ...
