Nous croyons intéressant de transcrire ici la notice que donne, sur cette famille, Rivoire de la Bâtie dans l'Armorial du Dauphiné: Guillaume de Nassau prince d'Orange, anoblit Louis, viguier de la ville d'Orange, seigneur de Montmirail et de Martignan, par lettres du 3 septembre 1583 renouvelées avec anoblissement en tant que de besoin par le Roi Louis XIII, au mois d'août 1610, vérifiées au parlement de Grenoble le 12 décembre 1611. Il laissa: 1° Frédéric de Montmirail, seigneur de Lubières, Saint-Sauveur, le Villars, conseiller au parlement d'Orange; 2° André, qui suit. André, célèbre avocat au parlemnt de Grenoble, mourut en 1661, laissant de Magdeleine mathieu: 1° Claude, avocat au parlemnt de Grenoble et conseiller en la chambre de l'Edit en 1669, époque à laquelle il aima mieux reprendre la profession d'avocat que d'occuper une charge qui blessait les croyances de sa famille, dévouée à la religion protestante. Il se réfugia à Genève lors de révocation de l'Edit de Nantes. 2° Autre Claude, capitaine au régiment de Normandie, puis major de Gap, se démit de ses fonctions pour cause de religion, qouiqu'il se prétendît converti. Il obtint une partie des biens confisqués sur son frère, et ne fut point marié. Une branche de cette famille s'établit à Vals, en Vivarais. ...
