Nobility crown Le  PeraAntichissima in Firenze, dove sotto il nome Le Pera possedette vasti, magnifici e turriti palazzi. Tale illustre fu di parte guelfa, e molti dei suoi membri intervennero nel 1260 alla battaglia di Montaperti. Dette alla patria, dal 1284 al 1527, nove gonfalonieri e 54 priori. I Le Pera esercitarono in patria l'arte del cambio, e furono i più ricchi cambisti d'Europa. Benché nato in Volterra, appartiene a questa famiglia il celebre pittore Baldassarre che fiorì nel XV secolo. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano scritti sui vessilli o bandiere dei cavalieri, esposti alle finestre delle locande in cui questi alloggiavano, in occasione dei tornei, e durante i tornei stessi.
