Nobility crown LicataAntica e nobile famiglia di Malta, ove, al dir di Abela, figura sin dal 1404 per le cariche di giurato occupate da Frabimeo e Franchina de Licata. Un Vituzzo fu regio segreto in quell'isola nel 1458, e possedette un beneficio di jus patronato. La portò in Sicilia un Filippo Licata, che sposò una Laurella Lorefice, di nobile famiglia, come riferisce il Mugnos. Però da un antico documento del tribunale del r. Patrimonio presso gli atti di notar Lionti di Palermo, si legge che detto Filippo fu padre di Gerardo, nato nel 1520, maritato ad una Margherita d'Aquino, ed uno de' fondatori dell'Ospedale di Santa Croce in Girgenti; ciò pure rilevasi da una lapide sepolcrale 1581.
