Originaria della Germania e trapiantata in Bologna, ebbe la signoria di molti casteli, tra i quali, Bisano, Pianoro, Capreno, Piancaldo e Orsara. Dette alla patria molti anziani e diversi senatori, ambasciatori e gonfalonieri di giustizia. Giovanni di Leonardo, Giovanni d'Antonio e Antonio di Jano dottori in legge. Questi oltre Loiano, hanno posseduto altri Castelli nelle suddette Montagne, cioè Bisano, Pianoro, Capreno, Piancaldo e Orsara, dei Iuspatronati, e quattro pedaggi, sono stati del Consiglio, e hanno avuto il grado Senatorio; la sua arma e un Grifo rosso rampante in campo d'argento. Ubaldino d'Ottocherio, de' Nobili da Loiano vendè al Comune di Bologna, i suoi Castelli di Loiano, e Bisano, e perciò la Città lo fece cittadino con molte prerogative, e diede anche la cittadinanza a Giacomo Panzacchia da Roncastaldo, che era stato mediatore a tale vendite, oltre i suddetti Castelli, restò anche Padrone d'altri quatro Pianoro, Capreno, Piancaldo e Orsara fù ...
