Antichissimo casato, estremamente potente nel medioevo, signore di Valdinoce, di Monte Liccio, di Bardi e di Parpiana. Tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, testimonierebbe la chiara matrice longobarda della famiglia. La forma cognominiale Lusardi, infatti, è caratterizzata dal suffisso "?ard", dal nome germanico "Hardhu" (= forte, valoros) e ciò consente di ritenerla appartenente ai nomi composti di tradizione longobardica-francone. In ogni modo, la famiglia Lusardi fu una delle più antiche di stirpe feudale della Val Taro. La tradizione vuole che capostipite di tal casato sia un Plato de Platis, vissuto agli inizi del XI secolo, i cui figli si suddivisero le proprietà il 5 ottobre 1022. Il frazionamento avvenne in sei parti, quanti erano per l'appunto i figli di Plato: Allinerius, Franzotus, Rolandinus, Luxiardus, Begarolo e Antonius.
