Checchè ne sia essa era chiarissima, annoverando un Guglielmo Marullo rettore della città di Taormina e un Martino, dei patrizi messinesi esiliati dall'imperatore Arrigo Svevo re di Sicilia, perchè partigiano dei Normanni, come osservansi nel diploma di quel sovrano segnato nell'anno 1194, tredicesima ind.".
