Antichissime sono le notizie storiche di questa nobile famiglia di Ancona, oriunda da Bergamo. Riconosce come capostipite un Nembrino, vivente nel 1130, che proviene da Nembro, paese vicino a Bergamo nella Val Seriana. Viene anzi asserito, da antichi scrittori, che Nembro fosse feudo dei membri di tale famiglia, i quali trassero da esso il loro cognome. Nell'anno 1542 una parte della famiglia lasciò Nembro per Gandino, paese poco distante, ed ivi furono ricchi e potenti signori. Sono da ricordare: Francesco, che militò sotto l'Imp. Ferdinando II e combattè in varie guerre sì valorosamente, da meritare la stima dell'Imperatore che nel 1562 lo decorò con tutti i suoi discendenti in perpetuo del titolo di conte del S. R. I. Prima, e cioè nel 1560, l'aveva elevato all'alta carica di Prefetto delle Milizie. Bernardino, suo cugino, si diè alla carriera ecclesiastica, e salì in alto grado.
