Fra i più antichi membri di essa si ricordano Danesio, vissuto tra le fine del secolo XIII e il principio del seguente, e Bastiano (1334) il quale, facendo parte del Consiglio di Credenza della città di Pavia al tempo di Roberto Spinola, Vicario Imperiale, sostenne doversi concedere a quei di Montara la costruzione di un vallo a difesa della loro città minacciata dai Milanesi, un Ruggero, che nel 1316 era dei consiglieri della sua città, ed un Enrico, figlio di Umberto, che si trasferì a Voghera dove ebbe cariche pubbliche importanti come ambasciatore al Duca di Milano Galeazzo II e fu qualificato: "benemeritus patriae". La genealogia sicura della famiglia comincia con Agostino, figlio di Giovanni eletto nel 1393, a rivedere gli Statuti cittadini e nel 1395 nominato console di giustizia.
