Linaje muy antiguo. Es originario del Rosellón, de donde pasó a Cataluña y luego a Valencia y Mallorca. Mosén Jaime Febrer cita en su Trovas, a Guillermo Pedro O., natural del Rosellón, que pasó a la conquista de Valencia en ocasión de estar el rey aragonés don Jaime en Benicarló haciendo la guerra a Peñíscola. El monarca celebró mucho su llegada, porque era hombre muy inteligente en el arte militar desde que se halló en la batalla de las Navas de Tolosa. En Murell salvó al ejército que allí se encontraba en apurado trance. Pasó después a Mallorca y por sus servicios le premió el rey con el empleo de maestre de campo. Garma y Durán hace mención de Arnaldo de O. y dice que fue primer varvesor de Montescot, cuya plaza y castillo le encargó el emperador Carlomagno que sacase del poder de los sarracenos.
