According to what has been handed down, the family was admitted to the honours of the nobility during the rule of Charles IV of Luxembourg (Prague, 14 May 1316 - Prague, 29 November 1378), King of the Romans, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg. The first member of the family we are aware of is a Johann Oxenknecht, student in Altshausen, flourishing in 1576.
