Stipite di questa famiglia fu Pietro P. marchese di Pietrapelosa. Nel 1399 furono i P. creati conti del S. Palazzo Lateranense da Venceslao re dei Romani, nel 1402 annoverati alla cittadinanza veneta, e nel 1777 aggregati a quel patriziato. Un Antonio fu prima vescovo di Concordia, poi nel 1402 Patriarca di Aquileja, indi cardinale di S. R. Chiesa. Egli donò ai suoi fratelli il castello di Zoppola erigendolo in feudo per loro e discendenti con voto nel parlamento del Friuli. Fu confermata nobile con sovrana risoluzione 24 Luglio 1820. Tali sono i principii, che da sopracitati Autori si diedero a questa famiglia, ma per esser questo fatto assai remoto, e d'historia molto lontana, lasciamo perciò a più eruditi delle sacre antichità, e dell'historie l'investigarne il suo certo principio.
