Heraldic trace of family: Pandolfo Ancient and Noble family of the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, originally from Siracusa but with branches in Messina, Palermo, Matera and Naples, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. The clear nobility of the House is confirmed by the presence of its blazon in the valuable work "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" of the Italian writer and heraldist Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 May 1819 – 8 March 1892), published in Pisa in three volumes between 1886 and 1890. thanks to the prominent figures, which gave birth, in the public service, in the liberal professions and in the military service. Among these, without undervalue the omitted, we would like to mention: Pietro, juror in Syracuse in the years 1407, 1411, 1415, 1427; Antonio, juror in Syracuse in the years 1419, 1427, 1438, 1446; Guglielmo, like the former, in 1459, 1463, 1468; Antonio, who purchased from Branciforti's House in the first half of the sixteenth century the feuds Piani and Raltavilla; Girolamo, juror in Syracuse in the years 1553, 1565, and perhaps he himself was the Girolamo who in 1573 obtained an investment of half the feud of Carioto or Poggiorosso; Giovan Vincenzo, juror in Syracuse in 1560, 1567, 1575; Giovan Calogero, doctor of laws, "proconservatore" in Naso in 1579; Mario, Baron of Raltavilla, captain of justice in Marsala in 1643-44; Antonio Vincenzo, Praetorian judge in Palermo in 1586-87 and of the Grand Court of the Kingdom in 1587-88-89; Luigi, landowner, flourishing in Matera, in 1610; Antonino, doctor of laws, flourishing in Matera, in 1626; Carlo, notary, flourishing in Naples in 1667. From the analysis of colours and symbols of the coat of arms we can have more information about the family virtues: The argent, in fact, symbolizes purity, tenderness, temperance, mercy, kindness, the desire to win and the talent of eloquence; the tincture azure symbolizes water, the continuity of life, it is a colour of nobility, beauty, chastity and fidelity; the red lion on the silver shield means greater nobility for the value of actions and gentle kindness. Family names so old, without any doubt honour not only families but also the cities that welcomed them; seems to be, in fact, very worthy the living members of this family which, with much decorum, carry this noble surname, which has had several illustrious members.
