Antichissima famiglia fiorentina, i cui membri, sin da remote epoche, abitarono nel popolo di San Remigio e originarono la propria denominazione da un "Perus", soprannome di un loro ascendente, vissuto nella seconda metà del XIII secolo. Piero, suo figlio, prese in moglie Filippa, di Bate Compagni, e da questo matrimonio nacque un altro Piero, che, per distinguerlo dal padre, fu chiamato Pierozzo.
