La nobile e antica famiglia Perrone, altresì detta Perrono, godette di chiara e riconosciuta nobiltà nella città di Messina, dall’illustre secolo XIV sino al tramonto del XVIII. Tra i suoi membri degni di memoria, si annovera un certo Matteo, il quale, nell’anno del Signore 1403, rivestì l’onorifico e solenne ufficio di giudice straticoziale nella medesima città. Seguì le sue orme un Franchino, dottissimo nelle leggi, che fu chiamato più volte a esercitare la medesima magistratura nei seguenti anni: 1437-38, 1447-48, 1452-53, 1457-58-59, 1461-62; e nel 1453 ottenne, con regio beneplacito, la conferma e nuova concessione del feudo detto Cutumino, segno evidente del favore sovrano e della sua alta condizione. Un Angelo, anch’egli della medesima prosapia, fu investito del medesimo ufficio di giudice straticoziale negli anni 1500-1, 1502-3, 1505-6, e ancora nel 1508-9, comprovando la costanza e la continuità della famiglia nell’esercizio delle più alte cariche civili. Parimenti, un Paolo e un Nardo, figli del valoroso Cristofaro, vengono ricordati con onore nella Mastra Nobile del Mollica, documento di somma autorità in materia di nobiltà e genealogie.
