Comunque le prime certe notizie di questa casata risalgono al 1° maggio 1244 in Pavia e in un atto di liberazione rinunzia fra Morello e Gilio de' Giorgi, ove sono menzionati Alberto e Lafranco de Podio di Mornico, i quali figurano anche in altro atto di divisione fra i Giorgi, atto rogato da Lafranco de Torricella l'11 gennaio 1256.
