Antichissimo e nobile casato, il qual trae le sue più antiche origini dalla città di Bergamo. Ivi, infatti, nel 1333 viveva un Giovanni, di Oberto, oriundo di Presate, ossia luogo del bergamasco, dal quale la famiglia trasse il proprio nome. Il predetto Giovanni fu compilatore delle leggi della città di Bergamo ed uno del Nobile Consiglio dei Savi. A Bergamo fu parimenti illustre Gabriele, medico dotto, lettore nell'Università di Bologna nel 1477. Un ramo fu trapiantato a Venezia da Marcantonio Presenzini Mattoli, figlio di Graziolo, nel 1537, il quale fu aggregato a quella cittadinanza originaria. Ivi, tal famiglia, si illustrò con: Antonio, dottore in "utroque jure", vivente nel 1575; Carlo, notaio e saggista, vivente nel 1589; Lorenzo, figlio di Marcantonio, fu, da Clemente VIII, creato Vescovo di Chioggia, nel 1601; D.
