Cette famille est bien véritablement originaire de Bretagne où elle était établie depuis plusieurs siècles. On la retrouve à différentes époques, en divers localités et il y a eu nombreux personnages illustres de ce nom. On signale les personnages dignes de mémoire: Eonnet, maitre de la monnaie de Nantes en 1420; Jean, argentier du duc Pierre en 1454; Geoffroi, archer de la garde de Clisson en 1464, épouse Catherine le Maignan, dame de Loiselinière; Charles, chevalier de Malte en 1585. Une branche de cette famille a été maintenue à l'Intendance de Tours en 1667.
