Linaje catalán, probablemente originario de uno de los pueblos denominados P. (cuyo nombre tomara) que hay en la provincia de Lérida. Uno pertenece al ayuntamiento de Peramea, partido judicial de Seo de Urgel. Una de sus ramas pasó a Aragón, fundando en la ciudad de Barbastro (Huesca) noble casa solar de mucha antigüedad, con línea establecida en la ciudad de Palma de Mallorca. Otras ramas radicaron en la provincia de Gerona, creando nuevas casas en dicha ciudad, en la villa de La Bisbal y en la de Peralda, esta última perteneciente al partido judicial de Figueres. También pasaron los P. a Mallorca, y fue muy principal, entre las varias familias de este apellido residentes en aquella isla, la que tuvo casa en la villa de Alcudia. La antigüedad de este linaje en Mallorca alcanza a mediados del siglo XIII, como lo comprueba lo siguiente: Cuando el rey don Alfonso III de Aragón conquistó aquella isla, deponiendo a don Juan II de Mallorca, todas las villas y la capital nombraron síndicos para prestar juramento y homenaje al monarca aragonés. Como diputado de la villa de Binisalem lo prestó Bernardino P. y como representante de la de Valldemosa, Bartolomé, Andrés y Pedro P. En 1343 juró obediencia y vasallaje a don Pedro IV de Aragón el caballero mallorquín Berenguer P. Y en 1397 ra jurado de la ciudad y reino de Mallorca Juan P. La casa de este apellido en la villa de Alcudia prestó grandes servicios a Carlos V y se los premió el emperador concediéndola, el 14 de octubre de 1525. ...
