Antica ed illustre famiglia tedesca, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Europa e del mondo. Tradizione vuole che essa abbia tratto origine dalla nobile famiglia prussiana Rappen, talvolta Rappe. Quest'ultima, da immemore tempo appartenente all'Ordine Teutonico, compare nei documenti ufficiali già nel 1543, quando viene menzionato un Heinrich R. Celebre poi il cancelliere prussiano Christoph (1566-1619), il cui nipote Otto (+ 1634) fu nel 1620 iscritto anche al cavalierato della Curlandia. Un altro Christoph von R. († 1716) ricevette poi conferma della nobiltà prussiana nel 1698, a Königsberg. La famiglia Rappen si è però purtroppo estinta, in Prussia nel 1744 ed in Curlandia nel 1752. Per fortuna essa aveva moltissimo diramato nei secoli precedenti, dando così origine ad altre linee indipendenti come appunto, secondo tradizione, i Rappenecker. Ebbero i Rappenecker la propria culla nel Baden-Württemberg ed infatti già sul calare del XVI secolo ...

Di rosso, ad un mezzo uomo vestito d'oro, impugnante in ogni mano un ramo di palma del medesimo. Cimiero: il mezzo uomo dello scudo.
L'arma di questa famiglia risulta purtroppo ignota negli Armoriali. Una sua ricostruzione è stata però resa possibile dalla presenza di frammentarie informazioni d'archivio e dal ricorso alle consuete congetture araldiche.
D'argento, a tre scaglioni di nero. Cimiero: due semivoli affrontati, il primo d'argento ed il secondo di nero su uno scaglione del medesimo. Svolazzi di nero e d'argento.
