La familia Robredo es oriunda de la provincia de Burgos, presumiblemente originaria de alguna de las localidades denominadas Robredo, de las cuales tomó su apellido. En época antigua trasladó su solar a tierras vizcaínas, fundando casa solariega infanzona en la villa de Lanestosa, perteneciente al partido judicial de Valmaseda, desde donde se extendieron diversas ramas por el Valle de Carranza, jurisdicción asimismo adscrita a dicho partido. Una de estas líneas se estableció en la villa riojana de Torrecilla de Cameros, en la provincia de Logroño. El linaje también se difundió por las provincias de Santander y Álava, hallándose en esta última una casa hidalga en el lugar de Osma, correspondiente al partido judicial de Amurrio.
