Una de las familias Rodríguez de la provincia de León se extendió bastante por la comarca del Bierzo y residió principalmente en los lugares de Langres (donde tenía su solar) y de Cabuolles de Arriba, ambos del Ayuntamiento de Berlanga y partido judicial de Villafranca del Bierzo, y en el lugar de Pradela, del Ayuntamiento de Trabadelo, que también pertenece a dicho partido. Ascendiente de esta familia en mediados del siglo XV, era Ruy R. de León, vecino del lugar de Langres y padre de Lope R. de Lorenzana, que sigue, y Juan R. de la Rua de León, que casó en Avilés (Asturias) con una señora principal y fundó allí nueva casa, de la que se derivó la rama establecida en el lugar y Coto de Castelaus, del partido judicial de Guinzo de Limia y provincia de Orense, con línea que pasó a Madrid y al lugar de Ayacor, del Ayuntamiento de Canals, en el partido judicial de Játiva y provincia de Valencia. Lope R. de Lorenzana procreó a García R. de Lemos, que casó con doña Ana de Barrios, en quien tuvo estos hijos Juan R. Barrios, que sigue, y Rodrigo, Comisario de Santo Oficio. Juan R. Barrios contrajo matrimonio con doña Francisca Hernández, naciendo de esta unión nueve hembras, y los dos siguientes varones Francisco R. Hernández, que sigue, y Gaspar R. de León, que pasó a la isla de Tenerife y testó en la ciudad de San Cristóbal. Según consta en el catálogo de pasajeros del Archivo de la Real Compañía de Indias de Sevilla, Francisco R., natural de Escalona, soltero, hijo de Rodrigo Alonso y de Isabel Sánchez Gila, emprendió viaje a Nueva España para ocupar el cargo de Oidor según el decreto de nombramiento fechado en Sevilla un año antes; por investigaciones posteriores sabemos que regresó a España 15 años después una vez finalizado su contrato, dejó nueve hijos en América a los que reconoció y dotó con ...
