Tra i "Regesta Neapolitana" troviamo un atto del 958 in cui è citato un Romano, figlio di Basilio, per una vendita di alcuni terreni a Cava. Più tarda è l’attestazione della cancelleria angioina che cita un Romano, Vescovo di Cava nel 1279. Nel "Codex diplomaticus cavensis" si trova un’attestazione, datata 1020-1023, di un Marino, figlio di Pietro Romano. Una pergamena del 127, cita i "Romani de Scala", in un atto notarile rogato per una tale Thomasia. Nel 1279 è attestato un Brundusio Romano, giudice in Tramonti.
