Nobility crown Saladini PilastriAntichissima e nobilissima famiglia di Ascoli Piceno. Riconosce come suo capostipite un Appiano, vissuto nel 1095 circa. Egli ebbe due maschi: Marcello (1180) ebbe Agnese sposata al nobile Francesco Miglioni, patrizio ascolano, e da questo matrimonio ne venne il beato Corrado, francescano, nato in Ascoli il 18 settembre del 1234. Alla Università di Perugia si addottorò in teologia, fu missionario in Libia e ritornato nel 1279 fu inviato ambasciatore da papa Nicolò III al re di Francia. Nel 1281 fu lettore di teologia alla Sorbona di Parigi, nel 1287 da Niccolò IV, nuovo papa e suo grande amico, fu richiamato a Roma per essere investito della porpora cardinalizia; partito da Parigi, a piedi, nel novembre 1287, giunse in Ascoli nel febbraio 1288; ma sfinito dal lungo viaggio e dalle penitenze, morì il 19 aprile 1288, e poco dopo fu innalzato agli onori degli altari col titolo di beato.
