La nobilissima famiglia Salamon, oriunda dall’antica isola di Torcello, ove era già conosciuta col nome di Centranici, vanta origini vetuste e di somma dignità. Essi furono annoverati tra i tribuni più antichi della Serenissima, ed ebbero seggio nel venerando Consiglio fin dall’anno del Signore 916. Pietro, ultimo della sua stirpe a portare l’antico cognome, fu elevato alla dignità dogale nell’anno 1024, e governò la Repubblica con senno e giustizia per lo spazio di dieci anni.
